About Us

Gleaners of Clackamas County, Inc. is a non-profit membership organization that has been serving the low-income community since 1969 by providing nutritional food assistance to low-income households of Clackamas county residents. Each week, Gleaners of Clackamas County helps more than 1,200 households with a generous supply of food.

We depend upon quality donations in order to fulfill our mission to eliminate hunger and improve nutrition for low-income households. We also operate a store for our members, where they may purchase certain foods and household items at low prices.

Unlike many other nonprofits, Gleaners of Clackamas County Inc. has two special points of note:

  1. Gleaners of Clackamas County Inc. is operated 100% by volunteers; there are no paid staff, managers, or board members. This reduces our operational costs, and allows for maximum program assistance to those in need for each dollar donated.

  2. While we gratefully accept and utilize various types of foods and products, we specialize in distributing perishable, nutritional foods quickly to those in need. Most food assistance programs only take canned or dried goods, or very limited amounts of perishables. We see to it that these nutritional items don't go to waste by taking these worthwhile goods and giving them to those in need.
